Ranu Mukherjee makes hybrid films, drawings and video installations as well as co-creating collaborative projects and artistic entities. Her work fleshes out trajectories and experiences of embodiment, site, ecology, survival, excess, futurism, the peripheral and the frontier. It often complicates distinctions between material and immaterial phenomenon, mobilizing desire around the awkward but necessary miscegenation of archaic and contemporary technologies, human production and geologic time. Ranu is concerned with navigating physical consciousness, picturing a metaphysics of her contemporary moment, engaging with the liminal (as a catalyst for social change) and growing tentacles.

Ranu is currently an adjunct professor on the MFA program at California College of the Arts
